MARINA DEL REY is a neighborhood in the Westside region of Los Angeles County. It is approximately 1.45 square miles in size and has a population of just over 8,800. Neighboring communities include Venice, Mar Vista, Culver City, Westchester, Playa Del Rey, and Playa Vista, and it is located just four miles north of Los Angeles International Airport. FISHERMAN'S VILLAGE offers a view of Marina Del Rey's most prominent feature, THE MARINA. It is the world's largest man-made small craft harbor with 19 marinas (5,300 boat capacity) and is home port to approximately 6,500 boats. Marina Del Rey also includes beach style homes on a strip of land on the beach which is referred to as the Marina Peninsula. The Marina itself, a specially designed harbor with moorings for pleasure craft and small boats, is surrounded by high-rise condos, hotels, apartments, shops, and restaurants. The community is served by the three-mile-long Marina Freeway (State Route 90), which links Marina Del Rey directly to the San Diego 405 Freeway and nearby Culver City.
